The varsity cross country team traveled to Wilmington over the weekend to compete in the Seahawk Invitational. In spite of muddy course conditions, the girls team powered on to an impressive first place finish beating out 6 other schools. Team captain, Hannah Zenker, led the team with a 2nd place finish while freshman Caitlyn Burkett was close on her heel in 3rd. Kianna Cook (8th) and Hannah Franklin (12th) and Brooke Gupton (25th) also had strong finishes that placed all five scoring runners in the top 25.
On the boys' side, freshman Jeddy Waldon (20th) had a breakout race with a new personal best of 18:54 on a slow course. The boys' team ran well together and brought their top five runners across the finish line with a 1 minute 33 second split. They placed 6th out of 9 teams.
