The State Championship was a big MUD fest! Times were slow and the course was a mess, but our teams raced well in spite of the slippery conditions. The girls' team ended up placing 8th in the state just 6 points behind Robbinsville. (Raleigh Charter girls ended up in 6th place, in case you were wondering.) Hannah Zenker ran well with the front pack for much of the race, but had an unfortunate fall that slowed her down in the final mile, allowing Caitlyn to pass her friend and end up 11th overall with a time of 21:16. Hannah Z ended up in a respectable 15th place even with the fall. Hannah Franklin and Kianna worked together throughout the race and finished only 19 seconds apart. Anna, Nikki and Abby raced well staying ahead of some NCAC rivals from Raleigh Charter and Woods. Great job ladies!!

Jeddy and Jonathan had the difficult task of running as individuals and sharing the start box with a bunch of guys they didn't know, but they both seemed mentally ready for the task and represented the boys team well. Jeddy had an amazing state debut as he raced to a top 25 finish, placing 23rd overall with a time of 18:24. Jonathan was roughed up by the jostling of other runners and was slowed down as a result, but he still managed to stay ahead of 3 of the Research Triangle runners and 5 out of the 7 guys from Woods Charter. Way to go guys!! (Research Triangle ended up 2nd, Raleigh Charter 3rd, Voyager 5th and Woods was 8th.)
