The boys' varsity cross country team finished only 3 points behind Voyager Academy to qualify for the State Championship Meet with their 3rd place finish in the 1A Mideast Regional at Wake Med Park on Saturday. The team led by 6th overall finisher, Zach Bunner (17:24), ran their best race to date placing the entire top five runners under 18:45 for the 5K distance. Jeddy Waldon, Jonathan Wertz stayed close behind Bunner while Stephen Elliot and Aidan Robinson ran most of the race side by side, finishing within a second of each other. Rounding out the team were Matthew Schwiekert and Shayan Dolikhani, both finishing with a personal best time. This boys' team is the fastest and most successful one we've had and looks to finish out the season in the highest finish in the team's history.
